Today, I would like to introduce you to one of the hidden treasures of our beautiful region: the Hippodrome de la Solle. This unique venue is well worth a visit, whether you are a horse racing enthusiast or simply looking for an original experience.
A bit of history
The Hippodrome de la Solle has a rich history dating back to 1776, when the first races were organised in front of King Louis XVI. However, it was in 1862 that the racecourse as we know it today was inaugurated by Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie, attracting no fewer than 30,000 spectators.
An exceptional natural setting
What makes this racecourse truly special is its location in the heart of the Fontainebleau Forest. Imagine watching horse races surrounded only by nature. It is the only racecourse in France to offer such an experience, with no buildings in the surrounding area.
Modern facilities
Despite its natural setting, the Hippodrome de la Solle is not lacking in comfort. You will find:
- A grandstand with an excellent view of the slopes
- A covered betting hall
- Restaurant and bar
- Comfortable boxes for the horses
Shopping
Every year, the racecourse hosts around twenty race meetings, usually from February to November. You can watch different types of races: flat, hurdles, steeplechase and cross-country. The atmosphere is always lively and friendly.
An experience for everyone
Even if you are not an expert in horse racing, I highly recommend visiting the Hippodrome de la Solle. It is the perfect opportunity to:
