Montebello Street, Le Mécano has turned a new page for the restaurant: it is now a dance bar and club, which bills itself as «your bar, club and concert venue» in Fontainebleau town centre. People come here when most of the town’s bars have closed for the night, to to keep the party going until the early hours, beneath the purple lights of the dance floor and the terrace.
From Wednesday to Saturday, every evening has its own character
Mécano is only open four evenings a week, from Wednesday to Saturday. On Wednesdays, it’s the return of the WAW, Wednesday After Work, hosted by DJ Chakal, which the venue organises for colleagues who want to unwind in the middle of the week, with special rates. At the weekend, the DJ sets take over and the dance floor fills up, with themed evenings such as the Wasted Parties, which are for over-18s only; the most recent one was fully booked, according to the venue’s Instagram account.
Cocktails, a dance floor and live music
At the bar, a a wide selection of cocktails and drinks are served throughout the evening. The venue also has a long-standing tradition of concerts and DJ nights, sometimes outdoors: on lovely evenings, the terrace Montebello Street becomes a stage in its own right, with its spotlights and an audience spilling out onto the pavement. Inside, the exposed stone walls give the club a certain character that you don’t find in a nightclub on the outskirts.
When to go
