Le Sunday 18 October 2026, from 9am to 5pm, the Place Napoléon Bonaparte is back with its stalls for the’UCAIF Antiques and Second-hand Shop, the association of shopkeepers, craftspeople and manufacturers in Fontainebleau.
Antique furniture, vintage décor, art objects, trinkets and little treasures: the classic format of a town-centre flea market, in a setting far more pleasant than a car park on the outskirts. The square is just a stone’s throw from the castle, so you can pop into the gardens or grab lunch on Rue Grande afterwards.
October is a good month for this sort of event. Retailers have cleared their summer stock, the new autumn/winter ranges are coming out, and tourist numbers are dropping: it’s easier to move around the stalls than it is in August, and it’s easier to have a chat with the exhibitors.
Serious bargain hunters arrive when the market opens, around 9 am, just as the stallholders are finishing setting up. By mid-afternoon, the atmosphere is calmer and stallholders are often more willing to negotiate on prices.
