Until 8 August 2026, the galerie artfontainebleau, at 10 Rue des Trois Maillets, explains Fragola de la Vega. Behind this stage name lies Francesca Sangiorgi, born in Sicily in 1980 and living in France since her teenage years.
His style is instantly recognisable: a black-and-white drawing, lit by red moons, where a stormy sea brings fragments of childhood memories and imagination back to the surface. Drifting boats, flying fish, fins, lush plants, female warriors and adventurers: the imagery is dreamlike, yet never saccharine.
Urban Arts Magazine summarises well the paradox that characterises her work: «extreme formal precision in the service of a deliberately unbalanced world». The compositions are sophisticated, interwoven with mythological, historical and, at times, literary references. The artist does not spell them out: «I offer a journey, a waking dream, without ever imposing a narrative. What interests me is the silent dialogue with the viewer.»
Perhaps that is what makes his work so compelling: it functions as a form of low resistance, almost ironic in the face of adversity, leaving the audience torn between melancholy and renewal. There are only a few weeks left to see it. Full details at the Artfontainebleau gallery website.
