For this second edition, the aim is clear: thirty authors signing copies and fourteen lectures in a single day. The Fontainebleau Book Festival is back on Sunday 27 September 2026, organised by the association History, Stories.
The day is divided between the Municipal theatre, Rue Denecourt, where the village hall is hosting the book-signing sessions, and the’The Black Eagle Hotel, Place Napoléon Bonaparte, for some of the sessions. The two venues are a three-minute walk from each other, making it easy to move from one talk to the next without any hassle. Timetable: 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, then 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
The Book signings are free to attend : you go in, have a chat with the authors, and leave with a book – signed or unsigned. Access to The total cost for all the talks on the day is €4, and that’s free for under-18s. Four euros for fourteen lectures – the value for money speaks for itself.
Fontainebleau has two independent bookshops in the town centre, a thriving public library and a local history society. A book fair on a human scale, where you can actually have a proper chat with the authors rather than queuing behind forty other people, fits quite naturally into this landscape. The first edition showed that there was an audience for it: the second has doubled the numbers.
