During the All Saints’ Day holidays, the 17 October to 2 November, Fontainebleau Castle offers a dramatised tour in the wake of its major exhibition on Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI: «Marie-Antoinette, Queen of Fashion».
The tour is led by two real-life figures from the Queen’s entourage: Rose Bertin, her fashion designer, who was known in her day as the «Minister of Fashion», and Leonard, her hairdresser, the man behind the dizzying bouffants. Two ideal witnesses to recount how a queen turned her wardrobe into a matter of state, and fashion into a court affair.
The château is offering a wider variety of formats this season: from special tours of Marie-Antoinette’s boudoirs, the Turkish Boudoir and the Silver Boudoir, on Saturdays, and a guided tour of the royal apartments under Louis XVI, until January. The dramatised tour is the most family-friendly option, and the only one available during the holidays.
