In Avon, the Maison dans la Vallée is the city’s main cultural centre, and undoubtedly the most versatile venue in the metropolitan area. People go there to see a show, visit an exhibition, attend a fair or take part in a workshop, and often leave wanting to come back for something else.
A proper theatre
The heart of the building is its a theatre with over 400 seats, which hosts concerts, theatre, dance and performances for young audiences. This capacity is rare in the sector, enabling it to welcome touring artists as well as productions by local Avon-based organisations. The Region supports its refurbishment, to make it more comfortable and more energy-efficient.
Fairs that draw visitors from across the Fontainebleau region
La Maison dans la Vallée is also the venue for major annual events: the ANVL Naturalists’ Mushroom Fair, eagerly awaited by all the forest foragers, the metropolitan area jobs fair, forums and open stages dedicated to urban culture, organised in partnership with the Maison des Jeunes. You’ll find everyone there, from families to jobseekers and mycology enthusiasts.
A building that comes to life all year round
La médiathèque Les Sources Vives shares the same address, making the whole complex a real cultural hub for the neighbourhood. You can borrow a book, visit an exhibition in the forum and stay on for the evening’s performance. This page lists the events taking place there, so you can see the programme at a glance.
