Le Friday 2 October at 8.00 pmthe cinéma l'Ermitage and the’ANVL, the Loing Valley and Fontainebleau Massif Naturalists’ Association, is organising a panel discussion about the documentary The Shepherd and the Bears, from Max Keegan.
It was his love for the Ariège region that inspired this Anglo-Irish director to make this feature film. For two years, he followed those who make their living from pastoralism in the Pyrenees, where the reintroduction of bears is reigniting tensions: an ageing shepherd who sees his sheep attacked whilst they are out on the mountain pastures, and Cyril, a young man with a passion for animals. Two perspectives on the same mountain.
The screening will be followed by a discussion attended by Rémy Marion, lecturer and film-maker, author of The bear: man’s other self published by Actes Sud, who will be signing copies of his books at the end of the evening.
