At 78 Avenue de Valvins, the house is called «Au Rendez-Vous des Pêcheurs». The shop sign Top Asia, which is still visible on the façade, is to be replaced by that name – the one that regulars on the avenue have known for a long time. Behind the window, an Asian kitchen that draws on three traditions: Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese, and a regular at the Avenue who claims over forty years’ experience.
Bo bun as a calling card
If there were one dish that summed up the restaurant, it would be the bo bun. It is available in beef, chicken, prawns or in vegetarian version, and this is what customers mention first, along with the spring rolls and ravioli in soup. The reviews describe it as a genuine neighbourhood Vietnamese canteen, with a friendly service and portions that are too filling.
Three countries on a single map
Centred on Vietnam, the map takes us on a tour of Asia. Over in Japan, sushi, maki and yakitori. As for Thailand, Pad Thai and curries. Just the thing to satisfy a group of diners who can’t make up their minds. To round things off, the restaurant offers Asian desserts, coconut pearls and ice creams in exotic flavours, and a bubble tea bar for those who prefer to drink their dessert.
A handy place to pop into
On the avenue leading towards the Seine and the Valvins Bridge, the house has a terrace for sunny days. You can eat there, order for collection via click-and-collect, or have it delivered to your door. The current team took over the business in 2019, and they’ve maintained its reputation as a simple, quick and generous spot, perfect for a midweek lunch or a lazy evening.
