The wine merchant L'Éclat du Vin transforms its cellar into a table d'hôtes for an evening: the Friday 29 May at 8pm, make way for «Native grape variety», a wine and food pairing dinner concocted with the chef Virginie Galan, who is now a loyal partner of these events.
The principle is as simple as it is delightful: a succession of dishes devised by the chef, each paired with a wine chosen by the house. This year's theme is the indigenous grape varieties, These are grape varieties rooted in their native soil that have sometimes been forgotten in favour of the great international varieties. It's the perfect way to travel in a glass and rediscover flavours you don't come across every day.
It's the kind of evening we love in Fontainebleau: intimate, gourmet, and driven by people who talk about their profession with passion. It's as much about the food as it is about the conversation around the bottles.
Price: €65 per person, on reservation (places are limited). Meet at L'Éclat du Vin, a wine merchant in Fontainebleau.
