What if we were to discover Descartes in an unexpected light, philosophising about everyday life with a princess? «The Philosopher», from Yaëlle Malpertu, is a a reading and lecture in costume presented on Saturday 17 October at 7.30 pm at the’Âne Vert Théâtre.
Elizabeth of Bohemia She is suffering, and she calls on the philosopher for help. Their exchanges give rise to visionary writings on passions, traumas and memories, set against the backdrop of the Thirty Years’ War. The young woman is not merely a student: it is she who will help Descartes to develop his famous theory of the passions. A philosopher, then, in the fullest sense of the word, as the title makes quite clear.
With Marie-Noëlle Martiol and Yves Patrick Grima, and with the help of Yaëlle Malpertu, for the Naphralytep company. The reading format gives the text centre stage, and the Âne Vert, with its small venue, is perfect for this sort of evening where people really listen.
