The Esquisse Hôtel Culturel in Barbizon is hosting the Thursday 7 May 2026 the group Samaryo, a jazz ensemble made up of students from the CMDL (Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood). An evening of energy and creativity, brought to you by the next generation of French jazz.
Founded by the late violinist Didier Lockwoodthe Didier Lockwood Music Centre In just a few years, the CMDL has become a national and international benchmark in jazz and improvised music training. Based in Dammarie-lès-Lys, a few kilometres from Barbizon, the CMDL trains professional musicians who deliver a high standard of musical training. National Higher Professional Diploma in Music (DNSPM) recognised by the Ministry of Culture.
CMDL students perform regularly on stages across the Île-de-France region to put their work to the test in front of an audience. L’Esquisse, with its intimate atmosphere and strong artistic roots, provides the ideal setting for this encounter between young musicians and jazz enthusiasts.
Following a season packed with classical concerts, L’Esquisse is getting Barbizon swinging with this jazz evening, which brings the musical programme to a close before the summer break. It’s a chance to discover the next generation of jazz talent in a village where art comes naturally.
