At 93 rue Grande, in the courtyard on the right, Sabine has made the gallery Fontainebleau a crossroads between the street and the art gallery: a place where graffiti and street art lay down their arms to cling quietly to the walls, somewhere between a café and a piece of art to take away. It is against this backdrop, familiar to art lovers in Bellifontaine, that the exhibition is being held until 30 June Urban Art in series.
The concept behind the exhibition is crystal clear: some signed and numbered prints, presented by the artists themselves, which make urban art accessible to a much wider audience than that of the originals. Here you’ll find bold colours, striking typography, unapologetic messages, and that graffiti energy that always seems to spill over the edges. The idea isn’t to view them from a distance: it’s to be able, perhaps, to walk away with a piece under your arm.
The exhibition is in keeping with the gallery’s editorial vision since it opened in late 2020: to foster a dialogue between contemporary street art and a Bellifontaine audience who aren’t easily taken in. The opening took place on 4 April in an atmosphere that perfectly captured the spirit of the venue: free entry, coffee, and artists speaking candidly about their work.
