From 1987, the INSEAD Lectures are opening the campus on Boulevard de Constance free of charge to residents of the Fontainebleau area. Organised by Professor Henri-Claude de Bettignies, over the course of the seasons they have hosted nearly two hundred speakers, including philosophers, economists, scientists and public figures. After Pascal Lamy in September and Bruno Palier In October, the series tackles a topic that fits in everyone’s pocket.
The theme of the evening: «Our dependence on screens has transformed our daily lives and those of our children: how can we break free from it?»
Najat Vallaud-Belkacem was Minister for Education. She is currently chair of France: a land of asylum. She published a book with Tallandier in 2026 Digital Detox. An investigation into our relationship with screens and how to break free from them, an essay written in the first person, in which she recounts her own attempt to disconnect and explores ways of regulating platforms, as well as actions that anyone can take.
This topic concerns parents who negotiate screen time at dinner, teachers, and quite a few adults who have already glanced at their phones whilst reading this line. The evening is being organised in partnership with the Hoffmann Institute at INSEAD.
Free entry, no booking required, on the INSEAD campus, on Boulevard de Constance. The conference can also be followed live via remote connection. The season’s programme is available at the INSEAD Conferences page.
A few words are enough, I reply personally.
