Le Sunday 20 September 2026, from 9am to 5pm, the Place Napoléon Bonaparte is back with its stalls for the’UCAIF Antiques and Second-hand Shop, the association of shopkeepers, craftspeople and manufacturers in Fontainebleau.
Antique furniture, vintage décor, art objects, trinkets and little treasures: this is the classic format of a town-centre flea market, with the added bonus of a far more pleasant setting than a car park on the outskirts. The square is just a stone’s throw from the castle, so you can follow on with a stroll through the gardens or lunch on Rue Grande.
This 20 September marks the second day of the European Heritage Days, and on the same day the Open Day at La Solle Racecourse. In other words, the town centre will be bustling, and parking will be even harder to come by than usual: do come on foot if you can, or arrive early.
Serious bargain hunters arrive when the market opens, around 9 am, just as the stallholders are finishing setting up. By mid-afternoon, the atmosphere is calmer and this is often when sellers become more flexible on prices.
