Le Sunday 16 August 2026, from 9am to 5pm, the Place Napoléon Bonaparte is filled with stalls for the’UCAIF Antiques and Second-hand Shop, the association of shopkeepers, craftspeople and manufacturers in Fontainebleau.
Antique furniture, vintage décor, art objects, trinkets and little treasures: this is the classic format of a town-centre flea market, with the added bonus of a far more pleasant setting than a car park on the outskirts. Place Napoléon Bonaparte is just a stone’s throw from the château, making it easy to follow on with a stroll through the gardens or lunch on Rue Grande.
As with any flea market, serious bargain hunters arrive when it opens, around 9 am, just as the stallholders are finishing setting up. By mid-afternoon, the atmosphere is calmer and this is often when sellers become more flexible on prices. 16 August falls on a Sunday right in the middle of the summer holidays: expect the town centre to be bustling.
