Three days to write, shoot and edit a five-minute film, with no budget and no competition: that’s the challenge set by the Kino Avoblo, including the 9th edition sets up its cameras at the House in the Valley Avon. The association Kinorama77 applies the principles of «kino kabaret», a movement that originated in Montreal in 1999 whose motto can be summed up in a single sentence: «Do well with nothing, do better with little… but do it now!»
On the first morning, a welcome with breakfast at 9h30, followed by a production meeting at 10.00 am: project leaders present their ideas and say what they’re missing – actors, filming locations, props or technical staff. Teams are then formed according to needs and personal preferences. You can sign up as a screenwriter or director, as an actor, or as a technician (camera, sound, editing, set design, make-up, costumes). As the organisers themselves say: technical staff are the most sought-after, and there’s nothing to stop you from being an editor on one film and an actor in another.
Beginners, amateurs and professionals all come together. Filming takes place at the Maison dans la Vallée, as well as at the Bel-Ébat Manor and its grounds, which participants can access using a badge. Everyone brings their own equipment; the association provides a technical support kit (camera, sound, lighting). The films, from 5 minutes at most including the credits, are shown on Sunday afternoons.
The big moment comes on Sunday evening at 19h30 at the cinema CinéParadis in Fontainebleau, where all the short films made over the weekend are screened. It’s a chance to see what a group of enthusiasts can produce in three days. Admission is 6 € Free for the public, free for participants.
Registration of participants and booking of the screening on the Kino Avoblo 2026’s HelloAsso page, all the practical information on the the Kinorama77 association’s website.
