Le Fontainebleau is not just a city and a forest - it's also a fresh cheese, sparkling as a cloud, wrapped in its elegant muslin, which has borne the name since the XIXᵉ century. On Saturday 23 May, alongside the Naturiales, the’Pays de Fontainebleau Tourist Office proposes one free tasting, Visit the Tourist Information Office at 4bis place de la République.
The operation is being run in partnership with two local artisan cheesemakers: Les Terroirs de France and Cheese shards. Small Fontainebleau will be served to visitors during the day. 3pm - 5pm, A sweet and savoury break between two stalls at Naturiales - just in the right place, just around the corner from the flower market square.
Fontainebleau, for those who don't know, is a traditional mixture of beaten fromage blanc and whipped cream. It is eaten plain, sweetened, sometimes with a red fruit coulis, and has long been one of the desserts served at the tables of the city's luxury hotels. It's a speciality that doesn't keep well and doesn't travel far, which makes this free tasting one of the best ways to get started if you've never tried it before.
