At Milpan, the Mexican restaurant on Rue de la Cloche, has a special flavour at the end of October: that of the Day of the Dead, the Mexican Day of the Dead, which honours the deceased in a joyful riot of colours and flowers. True to its motto «Raíces vivas», the centre is inviting young people from Bellifontaine to discover this tradition through two creative workshops.
First event during the All Saints’ Day holidays: the children from Ages 5 to 12 make their masks from calaverita, those colourful, smiling skulls that are the symbol of the festival, and then enjoy a Mexican afternoon tea. A two-hour session to learn how «el día de muertos» is celebrated, full of colour and emotion. Price: 35 €, all equipment is provided.
The second workshop is aimed at older children, aged 13 and over : everyone creates their own framed offering, inspired by the offering altars set up in Mexico in honour of departed loved ones. Price: 38 €, equipment provided.
Both workshops are led by Kitzia Sámano, graphic designer and illustrator. For further information and to register, please send a message to Milpan on Instagram or Kitzia Sámano on Instagram.
A few words are enough, I reply personally.
