Witches, burnings at the stake, famines, lords massacring peasants: the Middle Ages have a well-established – and not particularly flattering – reputation. The Sunday 11 October 2026 at 7.00 pmthe FLC and the’Victoria Hotel kick off their series of drinks and talks by asking the question straight out: «The Middle Ages: a medieval period?»
The Conversations with History are run by Philippe Jacquet, Senior Lecturer in History. The principle can be summed up in a single sentence: history is not just about the past; it is a legacy that continues to shape our lives and our perspectives, and everyone has an opinion on it. Hence the format, which leaves room for discussion rather than a traditional lecture.
Le price of 10 euros includes access to the talk and the pre-dinner buffet served at the Hôtel Victoria. Places are limited and the Payment must be made online by Friday 9 October : book your place for the drinks and chat event on HelloAsso. After this date, bookings will no longer be possible.
Appointment Sunday 11 October 2026 at 7.00 pm at the’The Victoria Hotel, 122 Rue de France, Fontainebleau. The talk is organised by the FLC, in partnership with the hotel. For further information, please contact the FLC secretariat, 01 64 22 09 98.
