The “Conversations with History” series, organised by FLC in partnership with the Hôtel Victoria, is back for another session of convivial exchanges. Far from lectures, these aperitifs invite free debate on the place of history in our daily lives.
Hosted by Philippe Jacquet, The meeting is based on the principle that history is not just the study of the past, but a living heritage that shapes our behaviour today.
Following on from an impressive session in January on painful memories (“When the past hurts”), this year's third talk is tackling a monument of time: the 20th century. The discussion will revolve around a central question: «Living with the 20th century?».
Participants will be invited to reflect on the persistence of this period, described by the British historian Eric Hobsbawm as an ’age of extremes«, in our first quarter of the 21st century. It's a unique opportunity to exchange views in a friendly atmosphere.
