To celebrate the International Women's Rights Day, Les Sources Vives media library in Avon is offering a guided literary tour led by Albertine Gentou, author, journalist and biographer passionate about women's history.
Albertine Gentou published «Women of Seine-et-Marne» (Éditions du Puits Fleuri, 2022), a reference work on the women who left their mark on the region. She is also the biographer of Rosa Bonheur (a famous 19th-century animal painter) and Louise de Vilmorin (writer and botanist). She masters her subject and knows how to make it lively and accessible.
On this tour, you'll discover the lives of women who are often forgotten or not sufficiently well known, yet who have contributed to the cultural, scientific and political history of the region. It's a way of rehabilitating women's memories.
Sunday 8 March from 4pm to 5.30pm at the Médiathèque Les Sources Vives. Free with registration from the media library: [email protected] or +33 1 60 74 59 30. An event particularly suited to those curious about local history and inspiring female figures.
