Real 20 minutes free: how does it work?
1×/day/per vehicle in green & orange zones. Activate via PayByPhone or the parking meter (number plate).
I'm staying for the day: street or car park?
For several hours, a covered/public car park is often simpler and cheaper.
How much does an FPS cost for a traffic offence?
40 €, reduced to 25 € if paid within 4 days.
🚫 What is an FPS (Forfait Post-Stationnement)?
Le FPS, or Post-Parking Package, Since 2018, the parking charge has replaced the old parking fine. It is not a fine: it is a additional fee charged by the City when a paid parking space has not been paid for or exceeds the authorised parking time.
💡 To sum up
- ⛔ Non-payment → issue of an FPS by the automated control system (LAPI vehicle) or a municipal officer.
- ⏰ Overtime → FPS as well.
- 🧾 Incorrect registration (wrong plate on ticket or app) → payment not recognised, FPS too.
💶 Amount at Fontainebleau
The amount of the FPS is set at 40 €, reduced to 25 € if the payment is made within 4 days following the issue. These amounts are determined by municipal decree.
📱 How to pay for it
- Online on the official portal parking.gouv.fr
- Or by post, following the instructions on the notice left on the windscreen.
🧾 And if you object
You can submit a RAPO (Recours Administratif Préalable Obligatoire) with the City in the next month the date of the FPS. In the event of refusal, a second appeal is possible to the Pay Parking Litigation Commission (CCSP).
