Just a stone's throw from the castle grounds and five minutes from the Fontainebleau-Avon station, Avon Squash claims to be the oldest and most Australian of all the squash clubs in France. Three courts, over forty years of history and an Anglo-Saxon-style club atmosphere where socialising and the post-match get-together are almost as important as the match itself.
Three courts, four teams and a youth academy
The club is fielding four teams in the league and brings to life a youth school as well as a formula for mini-squash for the little ones. A coach ensures group lessons and private lessons, and a group meets up on Tuesday evenings: a good place to start with or without a partner, which is not always easy in a sport played in pairs. The club is keen to point out that squash is one of the most physically demanding sports in terms of cardiovascular fitness, similar to interval training.
Dance, yoga, the sauna and the Club’s dining room
Avon Squash isn’t just about the court. The club, together with its partners, has announced dance classes (ballet, hip-hop, modern jazz), from the yogaand beauty and relaxation treatmentsa sauna, a training and cardio area, and workspaces. On site, The Club serves as both a bar and a restaurant: a menu of home-cooked dishes that changes every week Throughout the seasons, to enjoy in between conversations, with free Wi-Fi.
