A box, some numbers, a draw… and with every ball drawn, a female artist whom history has tucked away in a drawer. «The Great Lotto of Forgotten Artists» is an interactive theatre performance, taking place on Tuesday 29 September at 8.00 pm at the Musidora Media Centre, Bois-le-Roi. Its slogan says it all: a big lottery to empower women and broaden their horizons.
The show is a A collaborative writing project by the Incertaines et Fées theatre company!, directed by Elsa Granat. The lottery concept turns the audience into active participants in the evening: you tick off numbers, wait for your number to be called, and in the process discover painters, musicians, writers and filmmakers you’ve never heard of before – and that is precisely the problem the show highlights.
The Bois-le-Roi media library is named after Musidora, a silent-film actress and director – a woman who made her films at a time when almost no other woman had the opportunity to do so. It would be hard to find a better setting for this evening.
