If you were to take a visitor to see «the real forest», you'd probably take them to Franchard. L’Tourist Office offers a guided tour on biodiversity gorges and plains, the Saturday 20 June 2026 at 2pm.
The gorges de Franchard offer one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the massif: a relief of sandstone chaos, of flats windswept rocky outcrops, heather moors and temporary pools. At times you'd think you were hundreds of kilometres from the Île-de-France region. The area is classified as ecological reserve, This makes it an ideal observation area.
Accompanied by a nature guide, you'll learn how to understand this unique ecosystem: the flora of the moors and plains, adapted to the poor, dry soil, the species that live only here, the role of the pools and the fragile balance between tourist numbers and conservation. It's an outing that gives you the keys to better protecting what you love, in the spirit of the Tourist Office's motto: the more you know about the forest, the more you learn to respect it.
Saturday 20 June at 2pm, at the Franchard gorges. Price : 16 € for adults, 9 € for children. Don't forget good shoes, as the terrain is rocky. Booking essential at the Tourist Office.
