The association FLC - Fontainebleau Loisirs Culture welcomes you to its Maison des Associations, as part of the Spring Poetry 2026, an exhibition devoted to the work of Peggy Marmier, an artist and craftswoman specialising in the ancestral techniques of the lacquering and gilding.
Peggy Marmier draws her inspiration from water, an infinite source of movement, light and transformation. Her work explores the fluidity of the world, its changing beauty, its reflections and silences.
Based in the French Gâtinais region, the artist mixes her own pigments and varnishes to produce her creations on wooden panels. Her lacquered paintings are the result of a long process derived from traditional Asian art: preparation of the support, successive applications, inlays of dyes and eggshell, application of gold leaf and bronze powder, meticulous sanding and polishing.
Lacquer allows her to explore depth and the play of transparency, while gilding adds a precious vibrancy. Her creations are conceived as spaces for contemplation where the eye can lose itself and find itself again.
On the occasion of the Spring Poetry Festival, Peggy Marmier offers a introductory workshop to gilding on lacquer A rare opportunity to try your hand at these age-old techniques. During this 3-hour workshop, you will learn the basics of gilding on lacquer: preparing the base, applying the gold leaf and finishing. All materials are provided.
