Le Saturday 29 August 2026, the Vallée neighbourhood in Avon is being transformed into a race circuit. From 2.00 pm to 8.00 pmthe Avon Town Criterium, which is also known as The Jean-Paul Grandière Challenge, takes the runners round a loop of 930 metres marked out around the Vallée sports hall.
The criterium format is the most spectacular in road cycling for spectators: instead of waiting three hours for the peloton to flash past, you see the riders come round every minute or so. You can follow the attacks, understand the race and recognise the riders’ faces as the laps go by. The first races are set off from 2.30 pm.
The event counts towards the Mini-Tour 77 and is run under the auspices of the Fontainebleau Avon Cycling Club, in partnership with the town. This event marks the end of Avon’s sporting summer, on the eve of Saint Fiacre’s Day.
La Traffic is prohibited between 9 am and 8 pm Rue du Vieux Ru, Rue de la Vallée de Changis, Rue Georges Clémenceau and Rue Jacques Durand. Please make sure you move your car the evening before.
