Walking for the forest, quite literally: that is the principle behind the Charity walk from Bois-le-Roi. The shareholdings are entirely donated to the Heritage Foundation, in aid of the restoration of the Fontainebleau Forest, which was severely affected by the summer’s wildfires.
The departure is from the car park at the Bois-le-Roi leisure centre, with two circular routes: 14 km, free start between 9.00 am and 9.30 am, and 8 km, free start between 10.00 and 10.30. The routes are signposted, and signposts guide walkers from the Bois-le-Roi station up to the start, about 3 km further on: close enough to get there from Paris or Fontainebleau without a car.
The southern edition is organised by the Codérando 77, the FFRandonnée committee in Seine-et-Marne, together with the association Let’s All Go Hiking from Bois-le-Roi, the FFRandonnée Essonne and the’National Forestry Office. The first charity walk on the north side took place on 18 October in Rentilly: this walk brings participants as close as possible to the mountain range.
The entry fee is A minimum of 5 euros per person, and free for children under 12. The’Registration is compulsory, on the HelloAsso registration page for the Charity Walk. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes and take a windbreaker: it’s an autumn outing, and the weekend forecast is for windy conditions.
A few words are enough, I reply personally.
