From 1 to 4 October 2026, the Grand Parquet hosts the Jump Bost, four days of show jumping in free access. It’s one of those places that the people of Bellifontaine come across on the road to Orléans, without always realising that they can go in without paying.
The competition is organised by the’Bost Stables, based at the Haras des Brulys in Barbizon. Roger Bost, a former international rider, and his son Roger-Yves Bost, known as Bosty, world champion and member of the French national team, and Olivier Bost, a riding instructor, have been organising competitions for over thirty years at their venue in Barbizon, and at the Grand Parquet since 2000. The organisation therefore knows the terrain better than anyone else.
The programme deliberately mixes levels: CSI2*, CSI1*, Young Horse, Amateur and Pony classes. That is what makes the format so enjoyable for the uninitiated spectator. In the space of a single day, you see a pony and its twelve-year-old rider, followed by an international-level pair tackling a course of a completely different level of difficulty. The comparison speaks volumes more than any explanation of the competition categories.
Jump Bost is not just about the competitions. The organisers set up a proper equestrian village around the arenas, complete with exhibitors’ stands, food and drink outlets and VIP boxes. For a family day out on a Sunday in October, it’s an option that won’t break the bank: parking is free and plentiful, and the Fontainebleau forest starts at the far end of the car park if the children need to run around.
