Le Grand Parquet doesn’t take holidays. From 30 July to 2 August 2026, the Fontainebleau equestrian centre is hosting another edition of Fontainebleau by Cottard, four days of show jumping open to riders of all levels.
It’s the sort of event where, on the same tracks, you come across professional riders preparing for the start of the competitive season, amateurs, club riders and ponies ridden by children who are just discovering competition. This mix is what gives the summer event its charm: the atmosphere is much more relaxed than at the major autumn championships, without the standard of riding suffering much as a result.
Good news for those who are curious: Admission is free. So you can come along as a spectator, settle down at the edge of a quarry and watch the courses unfold one after the other for an hour or two. There’s a on-site catering and one exhibitors' village which is well worth a visit for anyone interested in equestrian equipment. For a family from Bellifonte looking for a free summer outing, it’s an option that’s all too often overlooked.
It is worth noting that the Grand Parquet has just come through an unusual July: the site served as shelter for evacuated horses during the wildfires that affected the mountain range, which had led to the cancellation of its 14 July flea market. The sporting season, however, is back to normal.
