It's probably the most emblematic activity in our forest, yet many Bellifontains have never tried it. L’Pays de Fontainebleau Tourist Office offers a introduction to bouldering supervised by a professional, in the heart of the forest. Saturdays 6 and 20 June 2026 at 1pm. The perfect opportunity to finally get your hands on the sandstone that attracts climbers from all over the world.
The word «bouldering» is now known the world over, but it was born here. As early as the end of the 19th century, the first rock-climbers came to train on the sandstone chaos at’Apremont, the Cuvier or Franchard before leaving for the Alps. Over time, Fontainebleau has become a discipline in its own right, with its famous colour circuits invented on the spot and imitated the world over. Climbing at Bleau is a bit of a pilgrimage for enthusiasts.
You don't need to have climbed before: the session is designed for beginners, adults and children alike. A qualified instructor will teach you to read a block, You'll learn to put your feet down, seek balance rather than force, and land a fall on the crash pad. The Fontainebleau sandstone, with its round shapes and holds sculpted by erosion, is surprisingly playful for an initiation. You'll often come away surprised to have climbed passages that seemed impossible at first glance.
Two dates in June Saturdays 6 and 20 June at 1pm. Price : 42 € for adults, 34 € for children, Equipment provided. Bring sportswear and good shoes. Booking is compulsory and the meeting point in the forest will be communicated on registration.
