Presentation

There is a kind of flora that we come across every day without ever really looking at it: the kind that grows between two paving stones, at the foot of a wall, or in a crack in the pavement. The Wednesday 16 September, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, the workshop «Live my life as a naturalist: wildlife on my street» suggests we finally give it some names.

The «Sauvages de ma rue» programme»

The session is based on the national curriculum «The Wild Ones of My Street», which provides simple tools for identifying plants in the city. Here, we are testing them in real-world conditions, in teams, in the form of botany and practical work activities, accompanied by a professional botanist ready to answer technical questions.

It’s a far more enjoyable way to get into botany than poring over an identification key on your own in your living room. And once you can recognise ten species, you’ll never walk down your own street quite in the same way again.

Become a biodiversity observer

The workshop is led by the’Association of Naturalists of the Loing Valley and the Fontainebleau Massif, as part of the’Atlas of Local Biodiversity. The observations made contribute directly to expanding this inventory.
