This unique theatrical tour offers an authentic immersion into the lifestyle of the French royal court in the 18th century. The event celebrates the 300th anniversary of the historic marriage between Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska, which took place on 5 September 1725 in the Trinity Chapel of the Château de Fontainebleau. This significant union in French history is now given special resonance through this immersive reconstruction.
Participants discover the courtesy codes and the refined etiquette that governed court life during the Age of Enlightenment. The tour reveals the complex rules of royal protocol: how to present oneself before the king, what to wear according to the circumstances, and what attire to adopt according to one's social rank. These traditions of protocol, inherited from the reign of Louis XIV, found a more relaxed setting at Fontainebleau than at Versailles, allowing for some relaxation of etiquette.
The Château de Fontainebleau was the preferred autumn residence of Louis XV during his long reign (1715-1774). The king stayed there regularly to indulge in his passion for hunting in the Forest of Fontainebleau, a tradition maintained since Louis XIV. It was in this prestigious setting that the marriage to the Polish princess Marie Leszczynska, then aged 22, took place in 1725, accompanied by three days of sumptuous festivities including feasts, Molière comedies and fireworks.
