In August 1986, in Aix-les-Bains, he ran the 100 metres in 10.09 seconds and set a new French record, knocking Roger Bambuck off the record books. Six years earlier, in Moscow, he had stood on the Olympic podium as part of the 4 \u00d7 100 relay team.<\/div><div class=\"fyalm-sec\"><div class=\"fyalm-k\">Elsewhere in the world<\/div><div class=\"fyalm-v2\">On 8 September 1966, NBC broadcast the first episode of *Star Trek*. That was exactly sixty years ago to the day. The series was cancelled after three seasons due to low viewing figures. <span class=\"fyalm-lead\">And his greatest success began on the day of his death:<\/span> It was only after it had been cancelled \u2013 and the episode was shown on a loop by local television stations \u2013 that it attracted the audience NBC had failed to secure for it.
